Miss Sandy

I met Sandy at an adoption event at the park behind the Sachem library. I learned very fast that she is such a beautiful and loving dog. Hopefully they will be able to find her a home soon! If you are interested in her you can get all the details here Almost Home LI
Enjoy.

Training Wheels

A few months ago I started volunteering for a local group that rescues dogs and cats called Almost Home. I have since been involved in as many events as possible. There was also this program called "Training Wheels" that they are involved in. Training Wheels® is a nationally recognized program that brings the animal shelter into the community. Working with in low-income areas we offer assistance to pet owners in a compassionate, non judgmental way. Volunteers drive into the community the first and third Saturday of every month to provide food, proper shelter as most of these dogs live outdoors, straw bedding, proper tie outs, leashes, toys, bowls, as well as pet care education, medical care and most importantly free spay/neuter with transportation. A part time veterinary technician provides medical assistant 5 days week. Our program services approximately 130 families a month. Many of the animals taken into our re homing program are dogs from this community. The majority of these dogs are Pitbulls with 95% living outdoors in poor conditions. We encourage our clients to make these animals a part of their family by bringing them indoors. If that is not achieved, then we teach basic pet care, proper interaction and time “off” their chains. By working closely with the community we are able help them keep their pets and not reach the point where relinquishment becomes necessary. So I went to Training Wheels last saturday and took some pictures of everything. Here they are enjoy.

Miss Ruby

I started volunteering with almost home a few months back thanks to a very good friend of mine suggesting I do something with my free time. I do work in the office where I got to meet this most adorable little pit mix named Ruby. I learned that I could bring her out for the day pretty much whenever I wanted to so I have been doing that for a while. Here a some pictures I took of her a few weeks ago on a visit to my house. She is completely availible for adoption if anyone wants this adorable dog! Only thing she doesn't get along with other dogs or cats so she would have to be the only dog in the house! Also here is the Almost Home Site
Enjoy.

Flowers

Every Spring all the flowers start blooming in my mom's rock garden and I try my best to get as many shots as possible. Now because I have much better lenses these pictures are looking a lot better. So much more detail was captured. Also there is a random bird picture in there as well.
Enjoy.

Wolf Pack Hockey part 2

A few weeks ago I shot the Wolf Pack hockey team again. This was one of the playoff games. They ended up winning in overtime. Hockey is probably one of my favorite sports to watch it moves so fast and crazy. And watching it in person is a lot more fun than watching it on TV. Since it is a fast moving sport I took over 300 pictures but narrowed it down to 80. I am not posting all 80 just my favorites of the group.
Enjoy.
